Information for International Students

We're excited to guide you through the process of obtaining a South African study permit to join our vibrant community of students. Please follow these steps carefully:

Step 1: Acceptance at Camblish School of Media and Film

- Apply to Camblish School of Media and Film by submitting your application form and supporting documents.
- Receive a letter of acceptance or confirmation of registration from our admissions team.

Step 2: Check Eligibility

- Ensure you meet the requirements for a study permit as outlined by the South African Department of Home Affairs.
- Check if you need a visa to enter South Africa (dependent on your country of origin).

Step 3: Gather Required Documents

- Passport valid for at least 30 days beyond your intended stay in South Africa.
- Completed visa application form (BI-1738) - available on the South African Department of Home Affairs website.
- Recent passport-sized photographs.
- Letter of acceptance or confirmation of registration from Camblish School of Media and Film.
- Proof of payment for tuition fees (as outlined in your acceptance letter).
- Proof of sufficient funds (approximately R 3,000 - R 6,000 per month) to cover living expenses.
- Medical insurance that covers you for the duration of your stay in South Africa.
- Police clearance certificate (if required by your home country or South Africa).
- Yellow fever vaccination certificate (if traveling from a high-risk country).

Step 4: Apply for a Study Permit

- Submit your application at a South African embassy, consulate, or Visa Application Centre (VAC) in your home country.
- Pay the required visa application fee (approximately R 1,500).

Step 5: Wait for Processing

- Wait for your application to be processed (may take 4 to 8 weeks).
- You may be required to attend an interview or provide additional documentation.

Step 6: Collect Your Study Permit

- Once approved, collect your study permit at the embassy, consulate, or VAC where you submitted your application.

Step 7: Register with the South African Authorities

- Register with the South African Police Service within 90 days of arrival in South Africa. - Apply for a study permit (if not already issued with your visa).

The following four services evaluate the language skills of people whose first language is not ​English. Contact the college if you wish to enroll at HBC to find out what test and score is ​needed there.

International English Language Testing Service (IELTS)

If you have taken language tests other than those listed above, please contact the college ​directly to determine whether they will meet language testing requirements. Camblish School of ​Media and Film may also ask you to take a college language assessment test before being ​accepted as a full-time student in the college program.
